California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC): Long Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan
September 2008

California's Long Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan includes two "Big Bold" strategies in line with the 2030 Challenge: to have all residential buildings achieve zero net energy use by 2020, and to have all commercial buildings achieve zero net energy use by 2030.

June 2007

This bill resolves that all new state buildings and major renovations in Illinois shall meet The 2030 Challenge targets and specified limits on the emission of greenhouse gases by 2030.


State of Minnesota
The Minnesota Sustainable Building 2030 Bill (SF 2706 and HF 3401)
May 2008

The bill requires that buildings receiving state funding meet energy efficiency targets of the 2030 Challenge with a 60% reduction in 2010, 70% in 2015, 80% in 2020 and 90% in 2025.

Executive Order 2006-001 Energy-Efficient Green Building Standards for State Buildings (pdf)
January 2006

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson issued an executive order requiring that all new state buildings and major renovations meet The 2030 Challenge's call for a 50 percent reduction in fossil-fuel energy consumption from what traditional buildings use.

By 2031, all residential and commercial construction must achieve a net energy consumption reduction equivalent to 70% below the state's 2006 code. Washington will begin to incrementally move towards this target in 2013.
